Election Devotional # 1
By Pastor Vance Walker
“Seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile and pray to the Lord on its behalf; for in its welfare you will have welfare.”
“Love your neighbor as yourself.”
Jeremiah 29:7; Matthew 22:30
God gave Israel and the church very sound advice, “Seek the welfare of the city, pray to the Lord of its behalf.” Why would God command such a thing? “For in its welfare you will have welfare.” Another way to say it is, as goes the nation and its cities, so goes the church. If the church neglects the welfare of this nation by not voting to change the course of our American political scene, what we see in the chaos going on around us will get worse and continue to enter and do great harm to the church. For in America’s welfare the church will have welfare.
Seeking the welfare of our nation and praying to the Lord on its behalf and then voting for those who stand up for biblical truthknowingly or unknowingly, we love our neighbors as ourselves. How can we say we love our neighbor if we do not try with our vote to stop the slaughter of the innocents, stop the influence of warped educators, medical professional and LBGTQ+ who seek to harm our children and adults. When we vote as a church, we ARE fighting a spiritual battle for the welfare of our nation and all those who live in it. Love your neighbor as yourself and get out and vote in Jesus name.
