Why should I pray?

Bassim Gorial

There are 24 hours in a day, that’s 1,440 minutes. We spend on average 420 (7 hours) of them sleeping and about another 480 (8 hours) of them working. For those who are counting that leaves us with 540 minutes (9 hours). Some chose to fill that time with working-out, spending time with friends, cooking, taking kids to basketball practice, watching television etc. There’s so much to do and not a lot of time, there’s a saying that says, “an inch of time is an inch of gold, but you can’t buy that inch of time with an inch of gold.” What we do with our time sets the tone for our life. We cannot get back a second we live on this earth, so what we do every second truly can be life changing or life breaking. We can either live our dreams or dream our dreams. Do not waste the time the lord has given you here on earth. David in the Old Testament prayed “Teach us to number our days, that we may get a heart of wisdom” (Psalm 90:12). Time is fleeting, before we know it our time here on earth will be over and we will be standing before our Lord, and we shall either hear “Get away for I never knew you” or we will hear “Well done my good and faithful servant”. Learn to prioritize the things and people who matter. Learn to prioritize alone time with the lord. Pray and meditate on the goodness of the Lord. The Holy Spirit will guide you in the right direction in all circumstances.

The lord is just waiting to use you as a vessel to bring others to Him. Just remember the more time you spend here on earth the more obstacles and hardships you will face. But the most important thing to remember is with every obstacle with God there is an opportunity on the other side to gain a testimony, to grow your faith. With every problem there is a promise that He will never leave you or forsake you. With every challenge there is something critical that He wants to do with you before he does something through you.
